Hello,
I am BB Cane, songwriter, guitarist and vocalist. I was born in 1958. Back in the late 1960s, when I was about 11 years old, my uncle John came back from Vietnam and taught me “Down on the Corner” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, on an old Harmony acoustic guitar (As I remember, the strings on my first guitar were way up high from the neck because the neck was warped). I played that old Harmony guitar till my fingertips became rock hard and till there was nothing left of the old Harmony guitar. After Uncle John taught me a few songs, I took over from there and taught myself to play and to learn songs by ear. I do not read music and cannot see myself learning to read music.
I grew up listening to and learning how to play Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., Patsy Cline, George Jones, Elvis, The Beatles, Sam Cooke, Buddy Holly, Hendrix, James Taylor, Gorden Lightfoot, Jackson Browne, The Eagles, Stevie Rae, Skynnard, ZZ Top, Zepplin, Dylan, Janis Joplin, Jim Croce, Chuck Berry, Tu Pac and many other artists. I have always enjoyed listening to and learning all types of music including Rap, which my sons forced me to listen to while they were parked in the driveway with their boomin’ systems. I wrote my first song at age 12 and have been writing ever since. I love to tell a story, true stories as well as flat out lies. I love to make people think, not think, laugh, cry, love and sing.
I have had some very fun times, playing and singing, for my children and family and friends and strangers. One time, while I was camping with my family in northeastern Iowa, I started playing my guitar by my tent, and a fellow camper asked if I would come over and play and sing at his campsite. There were 20 or so people there, I must have played for 3 hours, around a fire, playing my own songs and sing-along cover tunes. Everyone was singing along, they even tried to fake the words to some of my songs. After the forest ranger came around at 10pm and said, “Party’s over,” we all dispersed, and the man who had originally asked me to come and perform at his campsite said, “I have been to countless concerts, I have seen the best, and tonight is the very best performance I have ever seen, thank you so much.”
My most difficult concert, yet most rewarding, was when my sister Michelle, who was lying in a hospital bed dying in the final stages of a five year fight with a rare form of cancer, asked me to sing a song I had written for her. I had written the song about a year before she died, and had given her a cassette copy of it and also a framed poetic version of the song called “Michelle’s song” or “Mother on the other side.” I bent down to meet her face to face and sang it with her. We sang it word for word, together, as we sang it through tears, and as she sang it through her oxygen mask. Words cannot describe what a soulful sister and a song can do. Michelle died a few weeks later.
That memory, and memories of playing for my children and family and friends and the campground memory, will glorify me til my last breath, and may never be topped. Some of those memories are more than 30 years old. I would like to think that when I first started playing and singing, I was like water. I have aged well, and my performance should be like fine wine, or at least a cheap bottle of white port.
We have been a band for a year and a half, and we played a few open mics in different places around Tucson in 2007. We finally came out of the garage practices in January of 2008, fully loaded with an arsenal of lyrics and melodies to offer our talents to the world. As of mid-April of 2008, we have played a dozen gigs, with a variety of Rock, Country, Blues, Folk and Alternative and more. As the band leader, I do all I can to read the musical desires of the crowd and give them what they desire. I have discovered that if you can give people what they want, they will be happier. Through April of 2008, we have gained some fans, made people dance, sing, smile and yell out pleasurable noises, all because of our music. It feels so good to see people feeling so good about what you are giving them.
My musical goals are lofty. I want to make the world a happier place. I want to play wherever there is a need for what we have to offer. I want to play in palaces (hopefully not as a king) and in prisons (hopefully not as a convict). The world is a vast place, the human population is uncountable. I desire to see as much of the world and meet as many people as possible. before this train runs out of steam.
Please check back with this website for new releases and event info. Thank you to all of you who are trying to get this train up the tracks and thank you to our fans.
Love, BB Cane
Hello everyone, I'm Nova Cane, keyboardist, drummer, vocalist and dancer. I would like to share with you a little bit about myself. I was raised in a suburb of San Francisco, CA and then moved to the Los Angeles area in my early twenties, to live for some years. I currently reside in Tucson, AZ. The majority of my adult life has been spent raising children and taking care of a family. In recent years I have enjoyed learning and applying my deep care within the medical field. I have always loved music and am finally in a band.
My father was an operatic tenor, who performed throughout the United States at a young age. He also performed on live television in the Bay area. He sang every day, until his death in the year of 2000. His influence instilled in me a great passion for music of all genres. I believe that music is all around us, and inside of us, when we simply take the time to listen.
My great solo debut was “Away in a Manger” as a first grader in our school auditorium in front of a large audience. I also sang in our church choir for a half dozen years, till I became a teenager. As a teenager, I used to enjoy standing in front of a large door mirror, pretending to hold a microphone like a huge a rock star, singing along to the radio or singing along with my 33 1/3 rpm record player as a Beatles album played. I loved every Beatles song, Led Zeppelin and numerous other artists and genres like Peter Paul and Mary and Kingston Trio and so many others.
I have been playing the keyboards for almost two years. I have been banging on things since I was in my mother's womb, so I love the drum. My vocals have been compared to everything from Minnie Mouse to Stevie Nicks, depending on who is in what mood at which band practice. The soul of music is what moves the soles of my feet and the soul of my soul. I love to dance and am in a whole different zone. I am a Sagittarius and my favorite color is blue. Besides music, I love to draw pictures and solve puzzles and play word games. I like to swim and enjoy watching soccer games. I love the outdoors and being one with nature and being one with all.
Well now that my dream is coming true, I hope when you come to hear our band, that you will enjoy the beauty and hard work of our music, and don't forget to bring your pretend microphone, or you can use mine.
I love you always... Nova Cane
Hi fans!
I'm Sug Cane, on lead guitar, keyboards, and vocals. I also book most of our gigs and make sure all of the equipment is hooked up right, before every show. Plus I can make a mean sandwich. I enjoy taking a long walk in the park, or playing sports. I've been playing lead guitar, keyboards, and singing for BB Cane Band for some time now. I put my heart into everything I do. I love music! I care about all that exists. My wife Candy Cane says I have a big heart and am very giving.
I was born in the late 70s. I spent most of my time growing up in Iowa. We started a family band when I was maybe 12, and that lasted for a little under a year. In that time we were able to put on two charity concerts, one in a small town in Iowa called Murray, and one in Newton, Iowa. Although my dad, BB Cane, had plenty of great musical material, the family band stopped playing music to pursue other things. It was not the right time nor circumstances. I believe that now is the right time, so we decided to give the band another go in 2006 with some new faces, Nova Cane and Candy Cane.
I have always been a believer in the music. I learned basically everything I know about music from my dad, BB Cane. He is the heart and soul of the band. I do this for the love of my band, the fans, and with the hopes that it can become a prosperous career for us real soon. After we play a song and I get to look into the audience and see people smiling, laughing, clapping, and having a good time with us and our music, it makes it all worth while, especially when you, the fans come up to us after or during a show and give us really nice compliments. I would like to thank you for that. I believe that all things will become true love when the time comes. Until that time comes I can only try to make the best of things and love one another the best way I know how. Once again I would like to thank our fans, my fellow band members, and everyone else who has been supportive through the years and many happy memories to come. God bless the hearts of you ALL!

Hi Everyone,
I’m Candy Cane! I run the mixing board, play keyboards, and dance. I started doing this because I am a believer in the wonderful music that BB Cane has worked so hard on over the last 30-plus years. Being in a band is a whole new experience; it can be a very emotional and satisfying experience all at once. It’s not as easy as you think being in a band. There are countless hours of practicing, disagreements on just about anything you can think of, and after all the practicing, you get on the stage and your sounds are not right. There are also many more things that make it worthwhile, such as seeing all our hard work paying off, getting the wonderful messages that BB Cane Band puts into the music for everyone. Being able to see the audience enjoying the music, getting up and dancing, hearing how much they enjoy the music, rocks.
I grew up in Iowa and lived there most of my life. I grew up listening to music and learned how to play the clarinet. I picked up the keyboard about 2 years ago. I have 12-plus years dancing experience in jazz, tap, ballet, toe and ballroom dancing. I love the outdoors when it is not too hot in the Arizona desert. I love to watch and play sports. Growing up, you could find me out beating up the boys in the neighborhood. My husband Sug says that I am a very loving and caring person.
Love, Candy
